7 Ways to Transform The Mood
By Dipali Desai
We can wish for a stream of perfect days where there is a golden rosy glow, everything goes
our way, we get a promotion, our partner brings us a gift of love and we are riding high
on bliss. As reality sets in, some days or weeks are just plain rough. You may feel as
if life gave you a totally off the wall mixture of bitter apple, with tart lemon and a
kick of jalapeno hot pepper mixture. In reality that wouldn’t happen, but it is a
great metaphor of how it may look or feel. As if that isn’t enough to make you gag, far
off in the Cosmic Sky there may be a solar or lunar eclipse, full moon, and or a
retrograde happening. Add to the crazy with a capital K some fortune teller may even
scare you green and tell you someone has placed a “woo woo” curse of negativity on you.
You get the drift, some days or weeks are just plain nuts.
We can’t blame it on the above but we can take charge and be responsible for how we
feel and move through the emotional riff raff. We can either end up feeling nuttier t
han ten thousand nuts or feel happy and bright like a rainbow.
Here are some great mood boosters to add some sparkling light and that work.
- 1.) Clutter free Organize-Zone
When every plan seems to go awry and it easy to spin out of control at a mere drop of another thing being off
track find something in your room, office, car or home (even garden) to organize. Clearing the clutter helps off set the tangled mess and puts you back in the control seat. Cleaning can also help you transform the chaos you may be feeling internally. Cleaning the fridge, your computer desktop, email inbox and even the bathroom gives a nice feeling. Spot free windows goes a long way to bright your day.
- 2.) Indulge in Fabulous Food
Just for the day put your diet and exercise ’shoulds’ aside. Gravitate towards foods that will either nourish you or make you curl your toes and tip your head back and moan – YUM loudly. If you love to cook, then make a scrumptious meal that will be tingle your body. You know that Dessert is Stressed turned inside out. Indulge a little in foods that lift your Spirit whether its chocolate, french fries or a good piece of cake. Your workout routine will still be there tomorrow.
- 3.) Walk Away
When you are totally stressed out and feeling low or angry – walk away from the situation for a short while if at all possible. Give enough room between you and “it” whatever it is. Shake off the excess built up or heated up energy first. Going for a walk, gardening, journaling or working out helps. Sometimes even slamming a door helps to close off the energy until it becomes more mangable.
- 4.) Breathe and Meditation
Having a rocky tension filled week deserves a deep cleansing and conscious breathing. Find a short ten minute meditation where you simply let go, breathe and relax. It does wonders to the knots in the body, mind and emotions. Not to mention helps you reconnect with the peace inside of you.
- 5.) The Wanderer
Be a Wanderer and find a perfect getaway or a place to escape even for an hour when you know you are having a rough day. Go and wander into another environment. Read a good book, go out and have tea, or call up a friend and go for lunch and have some great laughs. Your horizons broaden and sometimes this helps the tangled up emotional energy to dissipate and offer you clarity.
- 6.) Dance the Night Away
Get your dancing shoes out because some great music, the right lighting, friends and some tasty appetizers will have you forgetting the woes and irritations in no time. Dancing is a nice outlet and helps to shift your energy in a constructive way. It’s fun to get dressed up and dance the night away. You can even create a nice dance environment in your own home.
- 7.) Be of Service to Others
When we help others we help ourselves. There are exceptions to this, yet most of the time you will notice you begin feeling good, empowered and lifted as you help someone in need. It also helps you shift your perspective about your own problems when you see others go through their own challenges.
